Research Notebook

Carefully worded observations gathered over many years of documentation. Editorial notes — never scientific conclusions. Read with the humility they were written in.

N° 001

Leadership recurs.

Leadership appears frequently among documented entries. The archive notes the pattern without drawing conclusions from it.

N° 002

Creative professions remain strong.

Writers, performers, and quiet makers appear more often than any other field. Twenty years of documentation have not changed this.

N° 003

The archive continues to evolve.

New Alastairs are documented as they emerge in public life. The collection is intended to keep growing — quietly, and for a long time.

N° 004

Geography is wider than expected.

Scotland remains strongly represented, but documented Alastairs span numerous countries across six continents. The archive keeps noticing.

N° 005

Endurance appears often.

In sport, exploration, and even in writing, the archive tends to attract long careers rather than short bright ones. This may say more about the curator than about the name.

N° 006

Alternate spellings are their own study.

Alistair, Alasdair, Alister, and Allister form a parallel record. They are honoured elsewhere in the archive, but not folded into it.

The notebook is added to slowly. New observations appear only when the archive has something honest to say.
